ICAO and IATA
International Civil Aviation Organization
(ICAO) provides regulations
for the safe transport of dangerous goods by air based on the
recommendations from the UN Committee of Experts (CoE) and the
International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). These regulations are published
in the ICAO Technical Instructions.
International Air Transport Association (IATA) provides
procedures for the shipper and the operator by which articles and
substances with hazardous properties can be safely transported by air on
all commercial air transport. The IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations contain
all of the requirements of the ICAO Technical Instructions.
Transport Canada mandates that all shippers and agents that offer
consignments of dangerous goods intended for transport by air. Once the
initial training course has been completed the employee must be complete a
refresher course every two years.
